LIVE@INFORM_ _EXPERIENCE REPORT PETER_ _
"I got to know the quality of the software and the competent way of working of INFORM during my first job, where I was responsible for logistics projects in a commercial company. In the summer of 1998 I started as Project Manager with INFORM, and as Consulting and Pre-sales Manager I am responsible for all projects and pre-sales activities of our business division. Besides that I am co-ordinating a team of consultants, with whom I manage projects for international groups in Asia and South America, requiring me to travel abroad frequently."
What is so special to you about INFORM?
At INFORM two aspects that are only seldom found simultaneously meet: The pleasant and personal work environment of a medium sized company with connections to the university, combined with the challenges of globally active companies. Here I can implement large projects at international companies in a highly specialised team in a familiar atmosphere.
How were you accepted at INFORM?
Contact with new colleagues was very cordial right from the start. We did not only spend working hours together. Sport and Aachen pubs were just as well represented on the program.
Which aspects do you find particularly challenging in your job?
The biggest challenge is the strategic further development of our products to ensure that they stand up to the challenges of the next 10 years. For me the co-ordination of the consultant team is an essential challenge.
Due to the highly specialised knowledge of individual employees, teams are continuously re-arranged according to new tasks, and projects are implemented. This provides for a lot of variety. Especially the co-operation of different disciplines leads to new insights and broadens the horizon. Another important point is the stronger international focus of INFORM. Especially projects in Asia, but also in South America, lead to contacts with other cultures, ways of working and thought patterns.
What does your typical working day look like?
The week starts with a team meeting, where we discuss the activities of the coming week. This is where we create concepts for current or planned projects. I frequently chair conceptualisation workshops for parties interested in our software. Based on this I then prepare corresponding tenders together with sales. The management of implementation projects is another part of my responsibilities. I am quite often on site at customers, together with colleagues from project management and development, for this purpose.
What are your career goals?
I would like to expand our products and clientele, without losing the special working atmosphere.
