"After completing commercial high school I underwent training as industrial clerk, but then made my hobby my work: Software development, which I started doing since I was 16 years old.
Before I started with INFORM in 1998, I was engaged in a number of IT divisions and companies as developer, and completed my training as business data processing specialist. Initially I looked after numerous international projects at INFORM, which took me to many places around the world. Presently I am the development manager and I’m responsible for the architecture of our software, ensuring that it always complies with the requirements of our project business."
What is so special to you about INFORM?
To me, INFORM is like a large, international family. Colleagues from different countries are an asset for the team due to their individual and cultural characteristics. We work together respectfully and in a relaxed manner, yet professionally.
How were you accepted at INFORM?
My new colleagues were open minded and approachable right from the start. The daily coffee breaks, voluntary joint activities and my mentor made it easy for me. Every new colleague is assigned a mentor, who is available for any questions during the first months and looks after the new employee.
Which aspects do you find particularly challenging in your job?
I am particularly interested in creating productive solutions for the logistics sector. The implementation of customer-specific requirements - for instance for business processes or for technology - into software solutions, is a special challenge in this respect. However, it is also very interesting, that mutual communication is the most important aspect for successful work, despite the very technical environment. As a result the social factor is of far greater significance than would be expected.
What does your typical working day look like?
I first take my dogs for a walk every morning. I use the time in the forest to prepare myself for the day. Besides that, each day is different and that makes the work very exciting. Project implementation mainly consists of communicating the software architecture to the customer, integrating new requirements within existing software, performing training and supporting commissioning. Technology questions always arise in the process of gaining new customers, which have to be clarified within the framework of the tender preparation phase, quite often on site at the customer’s premises. Supervision of our customer hotline and quality assurance also form part of my responsibilities.
What are your career goals?
I would like to continuously develop our products, so that they measure up to the technological and logistics challenges of the future.
